Carter (LA-02), leader of Region 7 on the council, marked the one-year anniversary of the Biden-Harris Administration's formation of the Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights (OEJECR). This office has been crucial in advancing the Environmental Protection Agency's work to address the environmental impacts facing Americans who live in underserved communities overburdened by pollution.

Enacted by House Democrats and the Biden-Harris administration last Congress, this transformational agenda includes the American Rescue Plan, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS and Science Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the Honoring Our PACT Act, and others.
Jackson Hails $1.9 Billion Red Line Extension Project Aiding Chicago’s South Side (Chicago, IL) — Friday, the Red Line Extension (RLE) project entered the engineering phase of the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Capital Investment Grants program. The RLE has a $1.947 billion federal funding commitment from the FTA, which is roughly 50 percent of the project’s cost and one of the largest New Starts awards in the history of the program.
