Chairman Hoyer with Dem Leader Hakeem Jeffries

Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries created the Regional Leadership Council (RLC) to advance House Democrats' mission to ensure that America maintains the most competitive and resilient economy of the twenty-first century and remains a land of opportunity where everyone can succeed.   The RLC will make sure that the House Democratic Caucus continues to deliver on that promise in every corner of the country.  From monitoring the needs of local communities to responding to key priorities in each region of the United States, the RLC will keep the American people at the forefront of the effort to implement the historic laws enacted during the 117th Congress including the American Rescue Plan, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS and Science Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the Honoring Our Pact Act, and many others.  Additionally, the RLC enhances coordination among the Biden Administration, Congress, and regional stakeholders to make the implementation process function as quickly and effectively as possible.

Twelve members – each representing one of America's twelve regions – sit on the RLC.  When creating the RLC, Leader Jeffries also appointed Congressman and former House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer to serve as its chair.  Together, the Members of the RLC are determined to ensure that Americans in every region of our country know how their taxpayer dollars are being invested to create new jobs, lower costs, and build a stronger, more resilient economy.  The American people deserve to feel the full positive impact that these policies can have on their lives and their communities.  The RLC will help make sure that they do.  With every bridge raised, road laid, factory opened, lead pipe replaced, medical bill lowered, and job created, the RLC will help Democrats continue to deliver results and put people over politics.
