RLC Weekly: RLC Members Highlight the Investing in America Agenda
Dear Colleagues,
One of the core principles of the Regional Leadership Council (RLC) is to inform the American people about how the Investing in America agenda is making a difference in their communities. This week, Members of the RLC were hard at work doing exactly that, discussing the Investing in America agenda with their constituents and connecting folks in their districts to the resources they need to Make It In America. Take a look at some of the highlights:
Making Online Learning Affordable

This week, RLC Region 1 Leader Tony Cárdenas (CA-29) and Chair Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) both held district events to discuss the implementation of the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), which was made possible by Investing in America agenda passed last Congress. In Southern California, Rep. Cardenas met with Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho to discuss how the ACP is connecting students to their teachers and expanding access to affordable, high-speed internet.

In Southern Maryland, Chair Hoyer distributed localized data to local stakeholders on the ACP and how the program can expand high-speed internet access to nearly 41,000 people in MD-05. Check out this fact sheet to see how his team communicated these savings to those constituents.
Empowering Small Businesses

Recently, RLC Region 8 Leader Rep. Darren Soto (FL-09) ensured Hispanic leaders in Central Florida felt the positive impact of the legislation passed during the 117th Congress. By inviting the White House Hispanic Initiative and the Small Business Administration (SBA) to attend a briefing in his district, Rep. Soto is working to enhance coordination among the Biden-Harris Administration, Congress, and local stakeholders to ensure that the implementation of the CHIPS and Science Law, the Inflation Reduction Act, and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law works for his constituents regardless of zip code. Briefing Veterans on the PACT Act

While the RLC was fighting Republican proposals to threaten veterans care, we are also ensuring our brave veterans can access the health care coverage made available to them through the Honoring our PACT Act. Above are two communications examples from RLC Leaders in Region 10 and 8 to ensure their constituents can access the critical resources provided by the Honoring our PACT Act.
Making Communities Safer
As part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s commitment to promoting safety and security across the economy, RLC Region 9 Leader Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester (DL-Del.) welcomed a $5 million investment from this legislation that will advance flood preparedness in Delaware and provide local leaders with resources to predict and manage natural disasters in their communities. Rep. Blunt Rochester says this funding "will help in our efforts to make our roads more resilient, safer and more accessible, all while promoting innovation.” Read the full article here.
Additionally, RLC Region 7 Leader Rep. Troy A. Carter (LA-2) used his social media platforms to announce that the Environmental Protection Agency awarded $2 million to transform a vacant lot into the Naval Support Activity East Bank Complex, which will safeguard the local environment and create job opportunities. It is one example of the Investing in America agenda identifying key funding opportunities that promote community safely. Learn more here.
