RLC Weekly: Meeting with Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su
Dear Colleagues,
From creating good-paying union jobs to easing tax burdens on working families, the Regional Leadership Council (RLC) and House Democrats are seeing how President Biden's Investing in America agenda is making meaningful change in communities across the country. Here are the highlights from this week:
Meeting with Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su
The RLC met with Julie Su, Acting Secretary of the United States Department of Labor (DOL), for a conversation about how Democrats' Investing in America agenda is uplifting workers. Secretary Su and members of the RLC discussed how DOL is working with federal partners to ensure grant-making and other investments create quality job opportunities for all Americans.

The RLC will continue working with the Biden-Harris Administration to ensure the Investing in America agenda supports workers and expands apprenticeship programs in crucial industries.Highlighting the Consequences of Letting the ACP Expire
This week, the RLC released updated district-level data on the consequences of letting the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) expire. Many House Democrats used these resources to communicate the impact this will have on families in their districts. See examples of this outreach from Reps. Ted Lieu (CA-36) and John Larson (CT-01). If you have additional questions about how to maximize the impact of this district-by-district data, please contact your RLC member or our office for assistance.
Easing Tax Filing Burdens
Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner Danny Werfel joined a House Committee on Appropriations Subcommittee hearing to discuss the IRS' Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Strategic Operating Plan. Commissioner Werfel detailed how the IRA is restoring fairness to the U.S. tax code by strengthening the agency's ability to hold tax cheats accountable and improve customer service. For more on this hearing, watch these clips from RLC Chair Rep. Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) and Rep. Mark Pocan (WI-02).
