RLC Weekly: Independence Day Implementation Wrap Up 🇺🇸

August 2, 2024

Dear colleagues,

During the July Fourth District Work Period, House Democrats highlighted how the Investing in America agenda is lowering costs, improving lives, and bettering communities. As Members redouble these efforts during the RLC and House DPCC's upcoming Week of Action (July 15th - 20th), here are a few quick highlights of House Democrats’ work to maximize community outreach on the robust implementation of the Investing in America agenda, which continues to create jobs and raise wages across the country.

To help us track your local events during the Week of Action, please register your events and share your best clips with RLC and the DPCC here!

Creating Union Jobs and Building a Modern America

House Democrats celebrated historic airport infrastructure upgrades made possible through the Biden-Harris Administration’s Investing in America agenda. In Pittsburgh, Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) and Rep. Chris Deluzio (PA-17) highlighted Democrats’ investments in Pittsburgh International Airport and affirmed their commitment to creating millions of good-paying union jobs across the country. In Dallas, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) spoke with workers at Dallas Love Field Airport about a $13.5 million investment from the Biden-Harris Administration. These events followed the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT’s) announcement of $123 million in federal funding for 235 airports in 35 states. Read more on this funding here

Giving Americans the Tools They Need

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) continues to build safer communities and thriving economies across the country. RLC Leader Rep. Darren Soto (FL-09) toured Duke Energy to highlight how tax incentives from the IRA are catalyzing Florida’s solar and green hydrogen industries. Read more from Rep. Soto here

Rep. Frank Mrvan (IN-01) highlighted the impact of federal funding in La Porte, IN. For too long, La Porte’s downtown residents have encountered sewer flooding in their basements due to outdated water infrastructure. Thanks to a $1 million investment made possible through local and federal partnerships, the city is one step closer to providing safety and security to its people. Read more on this project from Rep. Mrvan and La Porte Mayor Tom Dermondy here.

The RLC has produced district-level reports to show how the Investing in America agenda is advancing clean energy and delivering environmental justice across America. Please visit RLC.House.Gov for more.

Lowering Costs for America’s Seniors

Rep. Susie Lee (NV-03) continues to talk with her constituents about the ways Democrats and President Biden are lowering health care costs. Most recently, she visited Capriccio Senior Living to discuss the IRA’s cap on the price of insulin and her commitment to lowering costs.

The RLC encourages Members to utilize district-level data to show how American families are seeing lower health care costs under the Biden-Harris Administration.
