RLC Weekly: Health Care Savings, Clean Jobs, Insulin Caps
Dear Colleagues,
One year after President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law, House Democrats are highlighting how this landmark legislation is supporting and lifting up communities in every corner of the country. From capping monthly insulin costs for millions of Medicare beneficiaries to creating good-paying green jobs across the country, the Inflation Reduction Act is the cornerstone of Democrats' Investing in America agenda. Members of the Regional Leadership Council (RLC) partnered with local leaders and advocacy organizations to showcase how the entire Investing in America agenda is creating long-lasting change and lowering costs for workers and families. Here are some of the highlights:
Health Care Savings

On the anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act, RLC Leader Rep. Madeleine Dean (PA-04) spoke to doctors, nurses, and resident students at Abington Family Medicine about how the Inflation Reduction Act is helping them deliver essential care to Pennsylvania patients. Rep. Dean also visited Patina Health in Bala Cynwyd and discussed how the Inflation Reduction Act is helping local health care providers vaccinate more patients against shingles and the flu, and increase access to affordable insulin. Caring for our seniors is a key piece of the Investing in America agenda, and Rep. Dean is sharing how the Inflation Reduction Act is delivering on just that.
Environmental Justice

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law goes beyond repairing our bridges and roads. This week, RLC Leader Rep. Troy Carter (LA-02) joined EPA officials at the Deep South Center for Environmental Justice. This new Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Center will be critical in advancing environmental justice in Rep. Carter's district and throughout the state of Louisiana – all made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. As investments continue to become available from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the RLC is working to ensure these funds bring good-paying jobs back home and give families the tools they need to Make It In America.
Clean Energy Jobs

RLC Leader Rep. Robin Kelly (IL-02) joined Rep. Mike Quigley (IL-05) and Rep. Chuy Garcia (IL-04) in visiting Trajectory Energy Partners in Chicago, IL on the one year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act. The Inflation Reduction Act is the largest investment any nation has made in history to combat the climate crisis. Thanks to programs and incentives from the Inflation Reduction Act, Trajectory Energy Partners has doubled in size, creating good-paying jobs that help fight the climate crisis for people across the state of Illinois. At the event, Members discussed how this landmark legislation is already lowering costs for Illinois families and jumpstarting our clean energy future.
Celebrating One Year of Inflation Reduction Act

The Members of the RLC, as well as many House Democrats, shared the ongoing impact of the Inflation Reduction Act in their communities on social media. Many shared RLC data about health care savings in their districts and how much residents are saving on insulin thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act. RLC Leader Rep. Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) shared this quote from the Fort Bend Herald about how the Inflation Reduction Act is delivering results for Texans. The Inflation Reduction Act will create as many as 116,280 good-paying jobs in Texas by 2030.
