RLC Weekly: Delivering Change
Dear Colleagues,
In this latest edition of the RLC Weekly, we are showing how Members of the Regional Leadership Council (RLC) and House Democrats are seizing the opportunity to discuss how Democrats are delivering in communities across the country – in stark contrast to the Republican policy of putting politics over people. Take a look at some of the highlights:
Meeting With the CHIPS Office
The RLC met with Director of External and Government Affairs for the CHIPS Program Office Adrienne Elrod and Senior Advisor to the Secretary on CHIPS Implementation J.D. Grom to discuss how Democrats' investments are delivering a manufacturing boom. The conversation centered on what House Democrats and the Department of Commerce can do to ensure that the CHIPS and Science Act programs and policies make an impact in every community in America. As RLC Leader Rep. Derek Kilmer (WA-06) said following the meeting, "the CHIPS and Science Act is a game-changer," and the RLC is ensuring it becomes a reality. Read more on the meeting here.
Highlighting Open Enrollment
With the start of the Open Enrollment Period for 2024 health care plans through the Affordable Care Act, House Democrats are informing their constituents about the transformational savings Americans can expect thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and American Rescue Plan (ARP). Democratic polices have led to the lowest uninsured rate in American history, with historic savings for America's seniors and families. See how RLC Leader Rep. Grace Meng (NY-06) and Chair Steny Hoyer (MD-05) shared this notice here and here.
Strengthening and Sustaining Our Ports
As House Democrats continue to localize the impact of the Investing in America agenda, RLC Leader Rep. Derek Kilmer recently highlighted how funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will be used to upgrade the Port of Tacoma. Rep. Kilmer said, "This $54 million grant means the Port of Tacoma can keep leading the way in creating jobs and reducing emissions."
