RLC Weekly: A Brighter Future

October 27, 2023

Dear Colleagues,

After reports released this week showed better-than-expected economic growth and accelerated private sector investments in clean power – the American people are seeing further proof that the Investing in America agenda is delivering a brighter future for all Americans. The Regional Leadership Council (RLC) and House Democrats remain hard at work informing their communities about the ways President Biden’s agenda is already improving their lives. Here are some of the highlights:

Creating a More Prosperous Future

This week, RLC Leaders and House Democrats shared the ongoing impact of the Investing in America agenda on job creation and manufacturing across the country. Many celebrated the 31 Regional Tech Hubs announced by the Biden-Harris Administration, which will bring historic investments to communities that have too often been overlooked and will create good-paying jobs in advanced industries. See press coverage from RLC Leader Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE-AL) here.

RLC Leader Rep. Lori Trahan (MA-03) welcomed a new electric vehicle (EV) battery production facility in her region, highlighting that the RLC is committed to bringing clean energy investments to their communities.

Delivering Accessible Public Transit

Thanks to upgrades made possible through the Investing in America agenda, all Amtrak riders in Delaware – including persons with disabilities – can now get to their destination with ease. RLC Leader Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE-AL) joined White Senior Advisor Mitch Landrieu, Governor John Carney, Senator Tom Carper (D-DE), and Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki to celebrate this achievement. Hear directly from Rep. Blunt Rochester here.

Making Connectivity Affordable

Members of the RLC continue to share how Americans can save money on their internet bills through the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). RLC Leader Rep. Tony Cárdenas (CA-29) made a video showing how families can see if they qualify and how much they can save.

RLC Leader Rep. Darren Soto (FL-09) sat down with the Hispanic Federation to hear about the impact of the ACP in underserved communities. Please reach out to your RLC Leader to see how their district-level reports are helping to contextualize the success of the Investing in America agenda.

What's Next?

  • The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced over $128 million in environmental justice awards to help protect clean water and air in communities across America. See the list of awardees here, and see how RLC Leader Rep. Derek Kilmer (WA-06) promoted this news here
