“Throughout our history and throughout the world, America's veterans have made sacrifices so that democracy and freedom may reign. Their service deserves more than a 'thank you' on Veterans Day – these heroes need us to take action.
"One year ago, the House stepped up to pass the historic Sergeant First Class (SFC) Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act. This bipartisan legislation is the largest expansion of veterans’ health care in Department of Veterans Affairs history, expanding benefits to 3.5 million veterans exposed to harmful chemicals from burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic sources. The Regional Leadership Council is working closely with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to find ways to increase enrollment and awareness of these important benefits. So far – these efforts have delivered health care to more than 500,000 veterans and military families, with additional claims processed and approved every day.
"I look forward to continuing to work with the Regional Leadership Council, the Veterans Affairs Committee, the Department of Veterans Affairs led by Secretary Denis McDonough, and the Biden-Harris Administration to implement this historic law. We need to do everything in our power to ensure our veterans can recover from the wounds of war, access opportunities to get ahead, and receive the gratitude they deserve. We will continue working to advance that noble mission not just today but year round.”
