On Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Second Anniversary, Regional Leadership Council Discuss Implementation with White House Senior Advisor Mitch Landrieu
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, two years to the day that President Joe Biden signed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, members of the Regional Leadership Council (RLC) and its chair, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05), met with White House Senior Advisor and Infrastructure Coordinator Mitch Landrieu to discuss the law’s implementation and the progress of Democrats' Investing in America agenda. The conversation centered on how the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has already delivered nearly $400 billion to over 40,000 projects nationwide and how these investments are rebuilding America's roads and bridges, improving airports and harbors, and making broadband and public transportation access more equitable.
This is the third meeting between RLC Members and top White House officials to discuss how House Democrats and the Biden-Harris Administration can continue working together to ensure the Investing in America agenda promotes equity and reaches every community in the country.

"I was pleased to have another opportunity to sit down with Mitch Landrieu and the Regional Leadership Council to discuss all that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has done, and will continue to do, for the American people," Chairman Hoyer said. "The second anniversary of that historic law ought to remind us of all that Democrats were able to accomplish last Congress by standing together and reaching across the aisle whenever possible. We continue to deliver results and put People Over Politics every day as we pave roads, build bridges, expand high-speed internet access, and break ground on tens of thousands of other projects nationwide."
"It was great to join Chairman Hoyer and the Regional Leadership Council today to discuss how under President Biden’s leadership, we are breaking ground and cutting ribbons on infrastructure projects across the country – unlocking access to economic opportunity, creating good-paying jobs, and growing America’s economy from the middle up and bottom out – not the top-down. So far, we have enabled more than 21 million low-income households to access the internet through the Affordable Connectivity Program, started improvements on over 135,000 miles of roads, and much more,” said Senior Advisor to the President and White House Infrastructure Coordinator Mitch Landrieu. “Moving forward, the President is committed to continuing our great partnership with the Regional Leadership Council to rebuild America back better than before."
Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries created the Regional Leadership Council in January 2023 and appointed Congressman Hoyer to serve as its Chair. In addition to Congressman Hoyer, the council consists of twelve Members who each represent one of the United States' twelve regions. The council is working to ensure that Americans in every corner of the country and in every zip code can access the opportunities created by the historic policies that Democrats secured in the 117th Congress, including the American Rescue Plan, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS and Science Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the Honoring Our PACT Act, and many others. Earlier this month, RLC Members met with top officials in the U.S. Department of Commerce to discuss the implementation of the CHIPS and Science Act.
