RLC Weekly: Moving America Forward Together

February 2, 2024

Dear Colleagues,

As Americans continue to feel the benefits of lowering inflation and consistent job growth, House Democrats and the Regional Leadership Council (RLC) are maximizing outreach on the Investing in America agenda in their regions. Here are some of the highlights:

Modernizing America's Airports

Residents in Burbank, CA, witnessed a local airport begin its first major upgrade in over 90 years, thanks to Federal Aviation Administration grants. Although the airport sits in a neighboring congressional district, RLC Leader Rep. Tony Cárdenas (CA-29) recognized the regional impact that this expansion will have on communities across Southern California. "It's an old, beautiful, smaller airport but now it's going to be one of the most modern airports in the world," said Rep. Cárdenas. "Serving not only the San Fernando Valley but the entire Southern California region." The project will be completed by 2026 and create 12,000 jobs in the area. Read the story here.

Working Together, Making Families Safer

During #GunViolenceSurvivorsWeek, RLC Leader Rep. Robin L. Kelly (IL-02) convened survivors, neighbors, and local law enforcement to discuss Democrats' mission to build safer communities. As the RLC is committed to implementing the public health and safety measures of the Bipartisan Safer Communitties Act, Rep. Kelly is committed to taking these voices to Washington and making continued progress. Read more from Rep. Kelly here.

Investing in Main Street

RLC Leader Rep. Darren Soto (FL-09) welcomed local business owners and Small Business Administration officials to a roundtable discussion on the economic initiatives made possible through the Investing in America agenda. From clean energy projects to workforce development programs, House Democrats are creating new opportunities for the American people and making it easier for small businesses to get ahead. Watch a recording of the roundtable here.
